West Ham United‘s unbeaten run ended at four matches as they lost 1-0 away at Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.
The Hammers had beaten Burnley, Hull and Swansea to drag themselves away from the relegation zone, and were looking for a fourth straight victory as they travelled to the King Power Stadium.
However, having been served an early warning when Islam Slimani headed against the woodwork from a Marc Albrighton cross, the same duo combined as the Algerian striker headed Leicester in front.
West Ham had their chances but couldn’t get back into the game, and left the King Power Stadium empty handed after a 1-0 defeat to the Premier League champions.
A number of West Ham players disappointed, but winger Andre Ayew particularly struggled, and was slammed by West Ham fans on Twitter after the final whistle.
The summer signing from Swansea City may have scored against his former club on Boxing Day, but he’s endured a difficult start to life in East London, struggling for form and fitness after a 12-goal season with Swansea last term.
Fans haven’t been impressed with the Ghanaian so far though, and many supporters took to Twitter to brand him invisible, ineffective and non-existent after a disappointing display, which saw him taken off just after the hour mark.
Others branded Ayew a waste of money, and called on the Hammers to offer him to Sunderland in a swap deal for Jermain Defoe.
