Ruthless Antonio Conte is still set to spend in January despite his stunning transformation of Chelsea.
The Italian, whose side smashed Everton 5-0 at the weekend, has defied expectations to lift the Blues up to second in the table.
But Conte will still get backing from the Chelsea board to strengthen after missing out on a string of summer targets, including Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly and Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan.
Conte is in the market for a new midfielder with Cesc Fabregas out of his plans. Jon Obi Mikel will not be receiving a new contract with his current deal set to run out at the end of the season.
Twenty-three year old Inter Milan midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia is on Conte’s radar along with Sevilla star Steven N’Zonzi, 27. Kondogbia, a target for Arsenal last year, is unhappy at not playing regularly and – with Inter in meltdown – he wants out.
The Chelsea boss also wants more depth in defence despite not conceding a goal since the 3-0 defeat at Arsenal on September 24.
Kurt Zouma is set to return after the international break after ten months out with a knee injury. But Conte wants more depth at centre-half and left-back.
