Chadli signed for West Bromwich Albion in a £13m move, and has gone on to become a key player at the Hawthorns.
The report claims some of Chadli’s close friends were ‘bewildered’ by his decision to leave Tottenham, with his international teammates attempting unsuccessfully to get him to stick around.
Chadli was omitted from Belgium’s Euro 2016 squad after being used mainly as a substitute at the end of 2015/16, but has since earned a recall.
Chadli is 27 and approaching the peak years of his career, and thus is it understandable he was not keen to be a bit part player at Spurs, admitting he expected more of the same this season.
At West Brom he has scored four goals and provided two assists in nine starts, with the Baggies sitting in eighth place in the Premier League table heading into Boxing Day.
