According to The Independent, Celtic are keeping tabs on Charlton striker Ademola Lookman – but Everton are the favourites to sign him in a January deal worth £11m.
The Bhoys have attacking talent at their disposal already, given that striker Leigh Griffiths hit 40 goals last season, before summer signing Moussa Dembele came in and stole his limelight.
Unfortunately for Celtic, Dembele’s success – scoring 17 goals in 31 games – has triggered interest in his signature, with Glasgow Live reporting just last week that Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are all interested in the 20-year-old Frenchman.
Now, The Independent claim that Celtic are keeping tabs on another striker – possibly in case Dembele does end up leaving in 2017 – with Charlton Athletic’s Ademola Lookman believed to be a target.
Lookman, 19, has become a key player for Charlton since making his debut in November of last year, scoring five goals in 24 games before bagging six goals in 22 appearances so far this term.
Capable of playing out wide or up front, the speedy forward looks to have a huge future ahead of him having already played for England’s Under-19 and Under-20 sides, meaning he would be a smart target for Celtic.
The Bhoys are keen on Charlton’s young defender Ezri Konsa according to The Mirror, and manager Brendan Rodgers may now want to launch a double raid on the League One side – but Celtic appear to be behind Everton in the race for his signature.
The Independent’s report suggests that Everton are favourites to sign Lookman, and are confident that they can strike a January deal worth £8m plus £3m in add-ons, with just one stumbling block; whether the attacker will be loaned back to Charlton for the rest of the season.
