Northern Ireland are on the verge of qualifying for a play off place for next year’s world cup in Russia. Before then though, there is the small matter of getting at least a point against Norway, who are out of contention and would probably fancy building for the future. Northern Ireland is in second place with with 19 points behind Germany, who are already automatic qualifiers by winning all their group games.
Northern Ireland might already qualify without kicking a ball if Scotland fails to beat Slovenia in an ealier match same day. There is a likelihood of that happening.
One would say Northern Ireland have had a good campaign and should be proud of their achievement so far. They have played 9 games, won 6, drawn 1 and lost just twice, which came against Germany home and away. They defeated Norway 2:0 in the first leg of this fixture and should reasonably fancy their chances of getting at least a point. Their Manager, Martin O’neil intends fielding their top players if they still need a result by kick off. All their players are available for selection.
Norway on the other hand have nothing to play for but pride and the future. They started the campaign badly and never looked like they were going to qualify. No one should read much to their last 8:0 victory against San Marino away. Again,in this match they will miss Josh King, their top scorer with five goals victory, to injury and may find it a bit hard getting a goal; but since they play at home, one would fancy them to get a goal , especially if the away team decide to rest their players on danger of suspension.
Northern Ireland have scored in all six of their international games this year. They have also kept clean sheets in all their group games apart from the two games against Germany.
The bet that ordinarily stands out for me is Northern Ireland to win or draw and under 3.5 which is available in one of the local bet site in my Country ( bet9ja) at 1.88, but I struggled to find it in the ones available on this forum. I would therefore go with Norway win or draw & both teams to score, available on betway at 3.00
