The Frenchman has put his disappointing spell at Tottenham Hotspur behind him to become a regular for the Hornets, scoring five goals in 19 league games this season.
However, the Telegraph is suggesting that the 28-year-old may be eying a move to a bigger club, with Everton suggested as a potential candidate for his services.
The Toffees certainly need additional options in the centre of the park and if Capoue comes cheaper than Manchester United’s Morgan Schneiderlin it may not be beyond the realms of possibility.
When you also factor in Everton’s previous interest in Capoue – as reported bythe Daily Star back in 2010 when the Merseyside club were tipped to sign him for £10million – this rumour could have legs.
Everton certainly have the money to make a splash in the current transfer window but they will not want to be held to ransom for any of their targets.
That said Everton boss Ronald Koeman will understand the importance of strengthening in key areas while he can.
