For a few years there, Serge Gnabry looked as though he was going to be the next big thing at Arsenal.
But unfortunately for the young German, injuries stalled his progress, and after a strange loan move away to West Brom didn’t work out, he was unable to break back into Arsene Wenger’s team.
He left for Werder Bremen in the summer, and it is safe to say that he’s never looked back.
The 21-year-old was a star in the Germany team which reached the final of the Olympic Games in Brazil in the summer, and after impressive form for Bremen he was given a debut for the senior international side on Friday night.
He responded by scoring a hat-trick.
Now it was only against San Marino, and Germany won 8-0, but that didn’t stop Arsenal fans on Twitter from lamenting the fact that Gnabry isn’t a Gooner any more.
